Lisbon to Peniche by car
Driving is the easiest option if you want flexibility.
Peniche is roughly 100 kilometres from central Lisbon by road, and the normal drive takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on traffic and your starting point.
The main route uses the A8 before connecting towards Peniche via the IP6.
Portugal’s motorways use tolls, so if you are renting a car, ask the rental company how electronic toll payments are handled. Do this at pickup rather than trying to solve it after driving through a toll point.
A car becomes particularly useful once you arrive. Peniche town, Baleal, Ferrel, Supertubos and Consolação are close, but moving between them several times a day is much easier with your own transport.

What about the train?
We would not choose the train for this journey.
Peniche does not have a railway station, so a train trip requires travelling to another town and then connecting by road. That normally adds complexity without saving meaningful time.
Unless your wider Portugal itinerary already puts you on a useful rail route nearby, the direct bus is simpler.
Private transfer or taxi
A private transfer is the easiest door-to-door option, especially if you are travelling as a group, carrying surfboards or arriving at the airport at an awkward time.
It is also considerably more expensive than the bus.
